With over 15 years experience as a practicing physician, Dr. Rowland brings his practical understanding of healthcare and combines it with his knowledge of and enthusiasm for electronic solutions and health information exchange to healthcare problems.
Currently, Todd is the Executive Director of healthLINC, an HIE in Southern Indiana. healthLINC was recently recognized by eHealth Initiative as an innovative model of financial sustainability for small HIEs. Currently, healthLINC outsources its IT services to HealthBridge, one of the largest HIEs in the country. healthLINC has been an active participant in NHIN 2.
Todd’s success with healthLINC is founded on his experience in IT enterprise planning, health care community planning, physician-hospital strategy development, health information technology grant writing, and electronic health record implementation. This background allows Todd to communicate effectively with other physicians and with healthcare communities working toward advancing their development and implementation of electronic solutions. His leadership in national medical informatics arenas keeps him current on issues being addressed across the country in regard to medical informatics.
Dr. Rowland completed a post doctoral fellowship in Medical Informatics at Harvard/MIT, Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He is currently an adjunct professor in the School of Library and Information Sciences at Indiana University and Director of Medical Informatics at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana.
He has been a member of the Functionality Working Group of the
Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and of
the HIMSS RHIO Federation. He has served as the Indiana Chapter
Liaison to the Healthcare Information and Management System Society
(HIMSS) RHIO Federation.
